Point-of-Use Preparation
Sterilization begins the moment the surgeon closes the incision.
Prevent blood and bioburden from drying on the instruments. Dried organic matter forms a protective barrier that resists cleaning.
Scrub techs spray instruments with an enzymatic foam or wipe them down with sterile water. Saline should never be used, as its chloride ions cause pitting and corrosion on stainless steel.
